A senior Israeli official said in a briefing to journalists accompanying Prime Minister Netanyahu on his visit to Rome that the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran is a result of a Saudi feeling that the US and the previous Israeli government were weak towards Iran. The contacts between Iran and Saudi began in 2021 during the previous Israeli government and when the US wanted a new nuclear agreement with Iran.
