-someone yells at you
-someone blames us for something
-you're too overstimulated
-you're emotionally overwhelmed -
People typically feel shameful when they cry.

You'll see this when people say "I'm sorry" for crying or they completely shut down when they feel that urge to cry. -
Research shows oxytocin and endorphins are in tears. Crying is the parasympathetic attempt to bring the body back to homeostasis. Crying is your body's attempt to get you out of fight or flight.

This is why after crying we feel relaxed, at ease. Our parasympathetic nervous system has been activated. It has a soothing effect.

Holding back our tears or not allowing them can keep us in a dysregulated state. So allow your tears to flow. If you need to take space and be in private, take it.
