Why Friendships End: -
Most people think that the end of friendships is always bad thing. We believe friendships should last a lifetime, which leads to a lot of shame and confusion.

It's also a myth. -
Friendships will naturally end or drift apart as our values, interests, and perspectives shift. It doesn't always means there's hard feelings or conflict. Not every person is meant to stay in our lives, forever.

Friendships can end because:
— Dr. Nicole LePera (@Theholisticpsyc) June 25, 2023
-the connection was based on the past
-we've have different values
-we have a different idea on how time together should be spent
-we've evolved and don't connect over the same thing
-we've naturally drifted apart -
It can be a painful experience to try to keep maintaining a friendship when you feel drained, exhausted, or like you're the one putting in all of the effort.

Sometimes the most kind thing we can do is release that person. -
Because there is a stigma around the end of friendships, we don't talk about it. And we don't understand that ending of platonic relationships that can be just as painful as romantic ones.

As we release people from our lives, and allow people to release us from their lives, we create space. More aligned people can enter our lives. This is a natural part of the human experience: we will lose people, and connect with new people as we grow.

It can be a good sign that our relationships are shifting because that means we're shifting as well. We're becoming more clear on who we want to spend our time with, how we we want to spend our time, and who we want to support in our lives.
