You're healing but you feel angry.

You're can be irritated, moody, or say things you regret.
This is a good sign, here's why: -
Contrary to popular belief, all human beings have 'negative' emotions, do things they regret, and have reactive moments.

Because we've been raised to fear or anger or we were punished for it, we believe this means something is wrong with us.
— Dr. Nicole LePera (@Theholisticpsyc) June 11, 2023
In reality, anger is a natural human emotion. -
Because we've been punished for being moody, or consistently asked "what's wrong" we have a sense that we should always be happy and upbeat.
— Dr. Nicole LePera (@Theholisticpsyc) June 11, 2023
In reality, our mood will shift many times throughout a single day. -
Because we "know better" and have the tools to be less reactive, we judge ourselves then we become reactive, yell, or say things we regret.
— Dr. Nicole LePera (@Theholisticpsyc) June 11, 2023
In reality, reactivity is an autonomic response and it takes years to break these habit responses. -
Because many of us have lived in survival mode, we've hurt people. We cringe when we look back at our past behavior or go into self shaming cycles.
— Dr. Nicole LePera (@Theholisticpsyc) June 11, 2023
In reality, every human being alive has hurt people and survival mode is not the truth of who we are. -
Perfectionism and unrealistic expectations can easily creep into our healing journey.
— Dr. Nicole LePera (@Theholisticpsyc) June 11, 2023
True healing is about accepting the parts of ourselves that we don't necessarily like.
Or that we're not necessarily proud of. -
True healing comes when we show ourselves compassion and we become a wise loving parent to ourselves.
— Dr. Nicole LePera (@Theholisticpsyc) June 11, 2023
True healing comes when we accept that all humans will at times display toxic behaviors, and we and show acceptance to those wounded parts. -
True healing comes when we say: "I no longer expect myself to be a perfect human being because that does not exist."
