1. Jekyll & Hyde: your parent was way in public and completely different in public. They might brag about you incessantly to other people, and at home they're highly critical or completely ignore you.

2. Competitiveness: you had a feeling that a parent was jealous of you (your youth, freedom, or your accomplishments) because they regularly took jabs at you and downplayed positive things you did on a regular basis.

3. Sibling Triangulation: your parent loved drama and conflict and regularly created conflicts between you and your siblings through gossiping and pitting you two against each other.

4. Self Victimization: your parent regularly told parts of stories where they were the victim and their role in the conflict was completely downplayed. This got them sympathy from others, even though it was rarely truthful.

5. Emotional explosiveness: walking on eggshells was the environment within the home. You never knew what would set them off or put them into rage/defensive mode. This created a hypervigilance where you notice every shift in mood or tone.

6. Shaming: you were regularly shamed for not being 'grateful' or for being a brat because there was constant score keeping. This instilled a belief that relationships were transactional and you are "bad" or a fraud.

7. Enabling: you watched one parent enable a parent to be verbally or emotionally abusive on a regular basis. If you stood up for yourself, or talked about the behavior, you were told to apologize or that you were the one in the wrong.
