Win Cash Prizes by Shopping in Kerala
The Lucky Bill App scheme launched in Aug '22 allows shoppers in Kerala to win cash prizes by uploading GST bills from purchases made by them or their family. Beena Jospesh, a resident of Kottayam in Kerala, won a cash prize of ₹25L from Govt of Kerala for doing her usual shopping with a small twist.

1. Once you’ve downloaded the app, you have to upload GST bills from purchases made by you or your family within Kerala. -
- Now, you are eligible for daily / weekly / months prizes

2. There is a total annual prize pool of ₹5 crores for the financial year
- In addition to daily & weekly prizes, there are larger cash prizes of ₹10L, ₹2L and ₹1L each month. -

3. The app already has 100,000 downloads on Google Play Store and was made by Digital University Kerala for the Kerala GST Authorities
You might be wondering: WHY the hell is Kerala’s Govt doing this lottery? -
Simple answer: They are trying to incentive consumers to form a habit of asking for a GST bill - which is an indirect way to get GST compliance by MSMEs.

IF many customers demand a GST bill - the MSME owner has NO choice but to give one.. -
The alternative route here would have been penalizing non-GST compliant MSMEs - but as we all know, that doesn’t really work.

So, Kerala’s Govt is betting on rewarding consumers to drive the GST compliance.
Kerala’s scheme is similar to Taiwan's from 1951 which is successful -

Personally, in my experience dealing with MSMEs - GST compliance rates are awfully low. This initiative by Kerala is worth watching out for. I’m bullish - what do you think?
