Marcus is one of 31 people currently training to become a BART Station Agent. Every trainee takes an 18-week course in which they learn all aspects of BART. The course culminates in a final certification test, which Marcus and his cohort will take in May.

Marcus said he wanted to become a Station Agent to "be a part of a community."

“You see the same people every day, and sometimes you see them on their worst days. As a Station Agent, you have the opportunity to turn their day around and make it better." -
Before BART, Marcus was a “serial entrepreneur." He came to BART as a second career, in search of “more stable” work.

“To be able to help people while making a living that allows me to take care of myself and my family…it’s a beautiful thing,” he said. -
Marcus is “the oldest kid” in his class. With age, he says, comes wisdom and perspective.
