1. The collection of social justice movements, attitudes, beliefs, and customs that rose to prominence in the U.S. in the 2010s (this is the definition that I use in my posts about wokeness)

2. The belief that U.S. society's marginalization of specific groups is due to its fundamental "DNA" and thus requires a deep reordering of all facets of society instead of simply some changes in policies and personal attitudes

3. A hyperawareness of the ways that exclusion of marginalized groups manifests (or is believed to manifest) in every facet of life and social interaction

4. A quasi-religious zeal to liberate marginalized groups -- and especially Black Americans -- from the structural oppression that they face in American society
