Turkish Airlines Refund Process is Trash
The customer service of Turkish Airlines is far from satisfactory. Their refund process is trash and their email customer service comes from a noreply address. Their phone service can't even help.

hey @TurkishAirlines your refund process is trash and i would not advise anyone to book using your airlines. i specifically paid more for “Full Refund” tickets, and you’re showing half the price i paid in the refund form. support just kicks me around different channels 😭

this is even worse than i thought. they’ve considered my support ticket via email but i CANNOT REPLY BACK because they want me to go through their process again. like, their email customer service literally comes from a “noreply” address. and their phone service can’t do anything

mystery solved. when adjusting one of the dates earlier (they were advertised as “flexible”), i was presented with this UI. these two red buttons with exact same words on them are for the same flight, but the left one changes your refundable ticket to be non-refundable :) pic.twitter.com/ZazvKkC8kF

i think this is how they tricked me. (yes, these two buttons look the same and cost the same — the only difference is that the left one grifts you out of your ticket’s original conditions). and yes, “refund with deduction” but they don’t want to refund it at all. why? idk.

you *have to* admire the sneakiness of the @TurkishAirlines user interfaces

- my original fare is listed second
- no price difference
- each list item is the same except last two
- two identical buttons
- the non-refundable one starts with “Refund”

i couldn’t find any page that would tell me what is the exact “deduction” in “refund with deduction” on the fare class i must have accidentally chosen when changing the date. the only page that seems to have similar fares does not provide *any* details on their refund differences pic.twitter.com/rbPgJIX0jv

as an experiment (i’m still allowed to change my ticket!) i’ve changed it *back* to my original fare. however that didn’t work! it still shows the worse fare. what does this even mean? :D

it’s funny cause now i literally have a screen recording of the @turkishairlines website selling me a “fully refundable” class ticket (i clicked the correct button this time!) and then claiming that the ticket i just bought is in a different fare class than displayed on checkout.

this is actually making me doubt that i clicked the wrong button before. i’m not going to risk my second ticket by experimenting on this, but i’m wondering whether the website *always* downgrades your ticket and ignores the chosen class

update: @TurkishAirlines has decided to steal the *other* £1000 (which was supposed to be refundable). it claims that the ticket was purchased from an agency (it was not). this button literally worked yesterday pic.twitter.com/UAi4Q35h6l
