At the end of each Quarter, I make a point to:
— Kurtis Hanni (@KurtisHanni) April 1, 2023
• Review the previous quarter
• Look forward to the next
Use my 5x5 system to dominate the next 90 days: -
• What were the 3 biggest wins?
— Kurtis Hanni (@KurtisHanni) April 1, 2023
Too often we move to the next thing and don't reflect.
By asking this question it allows you to keep a running list of accomplishments.
It:
- reminds you what you’re capable of when down
- provides you with ammunition for future wins -
• Did I show up every day? Write down where you failed & how you’ll change it.
— Kurtis Hanni (@KurtisHanni) April 1, 2023
It can be hard to notice we've "dropped the ball" without reflection.
Be honest about where you fell short of your own expectations and plan how you'll do better next quarter. -
• Did I make progress on my goals? Do any need to change?
— Kurtis Hanni (@KurtisHanni) April 1, 2023
Go one-by-one on your goals and ask:
• How’d I do?
• Is the goal still relevant?
Use this opportunity to delete, reframe, or reset the goals you set for the year. -
• What personal habit would you like to improve next quarter?
— Kurtis Hanni (@KurtisHanni) April 1, 2023
Most trying to do too much at once and end up doing nothing.
Instead, I like to focus on just one. If I apply one new habit each quarter, that’s 4 a year.
That’s potentially life-changing! -
• What is one big opportunity I need to capitalize on no matter what?
— Kurtis Hanni (@KurtisHanni) April 1, 2023
We try and accomplish “all the things," which leads to burnout and failure.
Instead, I like to pick one thing to focus on.
90 days is short enough to stay focused, but long enough to make insane progress. -
Once the reflection is done, leave it behind.
— Kurtis Hanni (@KurtisHanni) April 1, 2023
When we ruminate on our failures or struggles, we make it more likely we’ll repeat them.
Use it fuel to set your intention for the next quarter.
Here are the 5 systems I update each quarter: -
• Review & update your goals
— Kurtis Hanni (@KurtisHanni) April 1, 2023
Above we reflected and updated our annual goals.
Now we ask: what do I need to do this quarter to stay on track?
Identify up to 3 goals to focus on for the quarter. Narrowing your focus makes it more likely you’ll accomplish them. -
• Review your ideal week
— Kurtis Hanni (@KurtisHanni) April 1, 2023
I was first introduced to this by @MichaelHyatt.
Label each hour in your calendar with what your IDEAL activity is for that hour.
While you won’t follow this exactly, it’s a good “North Star" to evaluate opportunities through.
