They are a public company. -
2) It all started because the founder Matt Bell @thismattbell was really into computer vision technology.

He knew that the concept of bridging physical and digital worlds through 3D content was a good oneβ¦ he just didnβt know quite how he was gonna do it. -
3) Luckily this didn't faze @thismattbell.

After starting, growing + sunsetting his 1st startup, Matt built the software that would eventually become @Matterport.
Then he built the hardware. -
4) The product was some seriously cool tech. But cool tech needs buyers. So Matt took 18 mo to figure out the best use case for @Matterport.

He explored:
-scanning bodies for virtual shopping
-industrial equipment installation
-construction
-insurance
-real estate -
5) Real estate was the clear winner. For a product that didnβt have a problem to solve, @Matterport solves a lot of problems.
— Elizabeth Yin π (@dunkhippo33) April 6, 2023
It helps real estate agents win listings, apartments fill units, venues close bookings.
It even fast-tracks construction projects. -
6) So, there's no one way to start a company.

And we're lucky to have @thismattbell speak at #CampHustle on May 17 about @Matterport.
Matt is really, really good at taking a startup from 0-100.
