It's fitting that the book is published by @NHM_London, since this museum is home to one of the world's most significant collection of fossil marine reptiles. A HUGE number of incredible specimens are on display in the famous corridor. Many feature in the book! cont... pic.twitter.com/yFN7oaE6AF

Our knowledge of #ichthyosaur #plesiosaur & #mosasaur evolution and diversity has been revised in recent decades due to new discoveries and new studies. We're in a #Mesozoic marine #reptile renaissance, and it's hard to keep up! I reflected this, best I could, in the book :) pic.twitter.com/pGXazjX8zV

#AncientSeaReptiles covers the many #Triassic marine #reptiles - many of them odd, surprising and poorly known - at length, something generally not done well elsewhere. So: hello hupehsuchians, thalattosaurs, saurosphargids, helveticosaurs, placodonts, nothosaurs and more... pic.twitter.com/qLixhFHVxC

We don't know as much about the biology and behaviour of these animals as we'd like, but I do discuss what we do know: on reproduction (live birth evolved many times), swimming mechanics, feeding behaviour and diet, and more. Much work in underway on all these issues right now! pic.twitter.com/FiA438Y81Z
